Actual battle occured 24-26 August. North hill of Special Forces Camp was over run. After callinfg in air strikes the hill was retaken by Mike Force(B-55 and B-20). Most of the fighting was over by 26 Aug althought action continued in the area through September. Mike force and a US unit operated in the area through this period. I arrived a/o 27-28 Aug and no SF at the camp was kill after I arrived. Check Mike Force web page www.mikeforceassoc.org there are go accounts there.

Doc,
I remember the incident some what. I know the air strip sure had a lot of causalties on it. If you could give me more details about it I would sure appreciate it. (dates, times, names, actions). I am interested in filling the gaps in my own memory. The best place to get info is the Mike Force web site. just search for Mike Force. Or try www.greeberet.net, and www.mileforceassoc.org

I never went to VietNam, but I have vivid memories of September 15, 1968. I was in the Army and had just completed AIF at Ft. Polk, La. Sunday morning I was in my barracks when the CQ runner came and knocked on my door. He broke the news to me of my brother PFC James D. Wardlow, USMC, being killed in VietNam on Friday the 13th of Sept. I always thought and always will think that no matter how bitter so many were of the VietNam war that my brother died a noble death and I am proud of him because he was doing what he had always wanted to do and that was be a Marine.

Searching for anyone who was at TOC Barbara, Quang Tri Province, during 1968, thru September 28, 1968. Also searching for anyone who recalls Sgt. Carl Ussery, a FO and Recon Sergeant attached to HHC 1/5 Cav, reported KIA 9/28/68. Do you recall the crash of a UH-1H east of LZ Barbara and/or the crash of a Light Observation Helicoper west of Camp Evans, on or about September 28, 1968?

An update to this posting. June 24 2002 Jeff Loomis found one of my many sights in reguards to my brother in law Cal he contacted us and had Jim Daugherty contact us also We praise the Lord for this as we as a family feel not only have we got to know Cal but we have extended our family also today on June 24 Jim Lockwood contacted me and that is another blessing. Truly as long as the Lord lets me breath I will honor Calvin in any way that I can. Walk with the Lord let him lead you in all aspects of your life as the reward is the truth that you will be united with those lost on earth in the mansions of Heaven and know your Loved. Cheri
