Nov. 27th 1968 the day before Thanksgiving. A co. 2of the 22 3rd platoon was suposed to have a day off. Enevitably we were called out on reactionary for an other unit that got pinned down.We were at fsb Wood outside Dau Tieng. We got on our APCs and headed to the location. When we got ther we could'nt shoot back once fired upon because we didn't know the location of the friendlys we got our but kicked for about 2 to 3 hours. The whole battle must have lasted 10 hours or more, Ishot a record amount of m-60 rounds and eliminated a lot of the enemy.I must have patched up at least a dozen Brothers. We lost a lot of men and APCs. We dug in about 1or 2 in the morning and got back to fsb Wood about 8 in the am. After we got a few hours sleep We did get a pretty good meal that Thanksgiving with a couple of cold ones. WELCOME HOME BROTHERS!

I'm trying to locate a list that would have the men who served with the 82nd Airborne from July 1968-1969 in the army in Vietnam. This is for my father-in-law Ray Matthieu II, who served during this time. Names I've heard him mention are Bob Dufka and Tommy McMillian. Any ideas of resources to use?

Thanks for any help,
-Trisha
