Looking for information on 1969 Tet counter offensive. Late 68,captured NVA officer carrying documents and maps, for the 69 Tet offense. The only thing i can find on the net is there was a 69 tet but never got off the ground because of the documents this NVA POW was carrying,i know he was taken to MACV After that i loose track. The POW was captured by me and only me. I was with Dco 2nd Bat 16inf rangers 1st Inf Div He was captured comming through a rubber plantation. I believe a villiage called Dog Leg, Can't rember the real name. Our CO was Capt Shaw,i talked to his RTO Craig Young,he rembers the incident verry well ,but Shaw did all the radio work on this one. After i captured the POW,i called Shaw on the radio and told him what the POW was carrying. He said he will send a squad out to pick up this POW. In the Meantime he called MACV and they told him to call the squad and to secure thier position, that MACV was sending a chopper for him. That is all i know for sure. I have been told by people i served with that there were some big opperations, because of this POW. I am not a glory hunter, but this is a big part of the history of Vietnam,as you all know, there was so many shity things that happened in Vietnam, and when you do something good a little credit is due.I do not know the Platoon that sent the squad out,i am getting in touch with more and more people from Delta Gc but no hits yet, that would rember the incident. I derosed from Vietnam in the middle of Feb 1969. Any help or information would be very helpful. Respectfully Delvin R DeRoss
