Alright, Z, consider this the first shock in an effort to bring the board back to life...or at least try to take it off life support! haha :)

CHAPTER 4

“Sonali, I asked you to fax this yesterday and it’s still here,” Justin said.

“Justin, I did fax it to you and I put it back like you asked me to.”

“Well you should tell me that you’ve done something I’ve asked you to so I don’t have to waste my time looking for you to confirm if it’s been done.”

“Oh my god, it’s round three and not even noon yet,” Chris sighed. The others just rolled their eyes and tried not to listen in on the heated discussion that was sure to escalate into a heated argument sooner or later. It was hard for them to do that since we were on the same bus. Things had been a bit chaotic in the beginning of the tour but I quickly fell in line with the fast pace. However, Justin and I just didn’t have the same chemistry I had with the other guys. I knew they had tried to talk to him to see what the problem was but it only irritated Justin more, which in turn was taken out on me by picking petty fights with me. I didn’t help matters much since I had a quick temper as well and didn’t like to take shit from anyone. The other guys were completely fazed by Justin’s behavior. I had grown accustomed to it which I think bothered Justin more. I told the others to let it be – we were just like oil and water, we didn’t mix well.

“Justin, I tried to find you after I was done but as usual, you were off in your own private place and I also have four other employers. Besides, if you look at the last page, you’ll see that it’s the confirmation sheet saying the fax went through,” I said in an even tone. He flipped through the pages and found the one I was talking about.

“Well it makes a lotta sense putting it on the bottom,” he said. I had to fight the urge to roll my eyes.

“Haha, score one for Sonali,” Chris said. The guys started laughing.

“And for your information, I was on the phone doing work for CFTC, okay?”

“Oh, there’s one for J,” Lance commented.

“Okay, well from now on, I will do my best to let you know one way or another that I’ve done something you’ve asked me to do, alright?” I decided to keep this argument short and sweet because I did not have the energy or time to go another round with him.

“Fine,” Justin said curtly.

“Is there anything else you need?” A slap across the face, perhaps, I thought to myself.

“What time are we supposed to get to Chicago?”

“Around 6:30.”

“Okay. Oh, who’s picking tonight?” We had come up with a system that made matters of eating a lot easier. Everytime we stayed in a city overnight, we took turns picking out a restaurant to eat at. I bit my lip as I thought to figure out and once I did, I had to fight the urge to smile.

“Mine.” He didn’t fight his urge to roll his eyes.

“Alright, I’ll find you if I need anything else.” With that lovely dismissal, I turned and headed to the lounge area on the bus where the other guys were.

“That one wasn’t as bad as we thought it would be,” JC said. I smacked him on the head.

“Oh, by the way, while you were with Mr. Sunshine, Mike called. We didn’t answer but recognized the number on your phone,” Lance said.

“I thought you said he wouldn’t call,” Joey said. I shot him and evil glare and he cracked up.

“Sonali do you need me to talk to him,” JC asked. Now I cracked up.

“Oh my god, no. I can handle this. I’ll just have to go into bitch mode. I tried being nice but now it’s over. It’s my own fault, I guess I shouldn’t have had dinner with him before we left. Oh well, I can fix this.”

“Well I can always yell at him,” JC said. I started laughing again.

“WHAT?”

“Jace, you sound like Ross during the episode of Friends where he tells Chandler he’ll kick his ass if he hurts Monica before they get married.”

“Oh my god, she went an entire hour without mentioning that damn show,” Joey yelled.

“I can always start in on Sex and the City,” I joked. The guys all groaned and I started laughing.

“We’re sorry. Whatever we did, we are so sorry,” Chris yelled.

“Can you guys SHUT UP! I’m on the phone,” Justin yelled, poking his head around the door. He said guys but looked directly at me as he yelled. We all stopped laughing and I got up to go to my bunk so I could get some work done.

“Relax man and take some fucking Midol,” Joey said. Justin gave him the finger before he went back to his bunk. I put my headphones on so I wouldn’t have to listen to him talk on the phone. I don’t know what the others did during that time on the bus, nor did I really care. I was glad they left me alone to do my work. I needed to type up letters for Johnny and work on a rough itinerary for CFTC. The bus came to a stop and I looked at my watch. It was 4:43. I looked out the window and saw we were at the hotel, ahead of schedule. I smiled, glad that we were early.

We had no problems checking in and as we headed to our rooms, I let the guys know about dinner.

“Whoever is up for dinner tonight, it’s my turn to pick and y’all will love it. Meet me here by 7:30 and we can cab it over to the restaurant,” I said.

“What are we in for,” Lance asked.

“It’s a surprise.”

“Hint?”

“7:30.” I smiled and headed in after Joey. I rotated between who I crashed with in an effort to save money and convenience. We always made sure it was a room with 2 beds.

“Hey Sonali, where are we eating at?”

“Don’t open your big mouth Joey, okay?”

“I won’t.”

“Indian food. As authentic as you can find in a restaurant anyways.”

“Oooh. I’ve tried it before but I don’t know how authentic it was. Now tonight I’ll know.” I smiled.

“Well, I should warn you that we’re not going to a place with great ambiance. Just great food. And as much as I love American food, I’ve been craving Indian for a while and since I used to live here, I know where to go.”

“Now you’ve got me all excited,” Joey said.

“Joey, dear, you’re always excited when it comes to food.”

“Hey, there’s nothing wrong with that.”

“Okay. Do you mind if I shower first?”

“Nope, go ahead.”

“Thanks.” I headed into the bathroom, excited to take a long, hot shower to relieve some stress. I got in and after a couple of minutes, I heard a knock on the door.

“Sonali?”

“Yeah?”

“Can I come in? I wanna brush my teeth.”

“Sure Joe.” It was a big bathroom, there was a non-see through shower curtain and I knew Joey wouldn’t do anything. I did know he’d joke about peeking so I was already coming up with a good comeback. I head him brushing his teeth. I laughed to myself as I thought about how funny it was that I didn’t care he was in there with me.

“So, uh Sonali, ya want some company in there,” Joey asked. Did I call it or what?

“Joseph, darling, if your fingers come within a foot of this curtain, I will inflict serious bodily harm on you.” He started laughing.

“Hey now, I’m only joking. Besides, I’m not Justin, you like me.”

“Joey, I don’t hate Justin. We just don’t get along and we do a great job of getting on each others’ nerves.”

“I know, I wish he could just realize was an ass he can be sometimes.”

“Well I can be a bitch too.”

“So? It isn’t right, the way he treats you. You were nothing but nice from day one. He’s the one who’s instigated this situation and god only knows why. You’re such a doll!”

“You only say that because I can go out and get you a pizza rather than have you risk your life due to your lunatic fans,” I joked. Joey laughed.

“Hey now, don’t dis our fans like that. But seriously, you are going to make someone very happy one day…unless you already are and you haven’t shared with us. What IS the real deal with you and Mike, anyways,” Joey joked.

“Haha. You know I’m as single as they come. How the hell could I manage a boyfriend with this job? I don’t think any guy would be okay with his girlfriend running around the country with NSYNC – rotating between sharing rooms with them at hotels…”

“Haha.”

“Seriously, man, thanks to how hot you boys are, you’ve intimidated all the men out there thus making it impossible for me to date.”

“Well you’ve always got one of us.”

“Uhhh, yeah, I don’t think so. You guys are like my brothers.”

“Even Justin?”

“Okay, you FOUR are like my brothers, but Joey, I wouldn’t date Justin if he were the last man on earth!” Joey and I both cracked up.
