I think it's a great idea... but like Arwin said... my 10th lvl barbarian with 150 hp would pretty much destroy anyone in the party.

I don't want you to drop the idea though, I think it' really new and should be tried.

if you want to give people a starting level. say 3 and the maximum would be say 6... I think if you give the party 6000 gold and levels cost 2000 each, then you might have something.

Make the play WANT to hold on to their gold by having them spend it on items they want like custome things. Or like Veth's mage in my campaign... he has to spend gold and XP to make his scrolls and wands... we can move that over to fighters and whatnot.

If Bob the fighter wants to add a +1 to his weapon it'll cost him 1000 gold... and so on.

I think it's a great idea... I hope you make it work.
