Subject: I don't understand the reason for the tesseract events from Harper's Tesseract Machine

In "Ouroborous" we saw at the beginning that Harper's Magog Larvae were beginning to hatch and the medicine Rev gave him after the skirmish with the Magog WorldShip was ineffective. He enlisted the help of Hohne and Rekeeb while the Andromeda was in orbit of Sinti to build a Tesseract Machine using the knowledge gained from Satrina and the knowledge Hohne and the Perseids already had.
What I DON'T understand about the Tesseract events popping up everywhere on the ship and even on the planet until Andromeda pulled out of orbit is this: WHY DID EVERYTHING START TESSERACTING WHEN THE MACHINE ITSELF WAS STILL UNFINISHED BUT IN THE PROCESS OF COMPLETION?
I mean until Harper explained his theory that the completed Tesseract Machine from the future was releasing something called temporal shockwaves (what are those, anyways?), I thought that somehow it was already activated and made a malfunction.
Somebody please explain?!
And also, where these Tesseracts and the things resulting from them (the Magog SwarmShips, Kalderan Army, etc.) coming from the past, future, or both?
