Subject: Too Much Information

Lately, I've been feeling as I know too much about the behind the scenes struggles on Andromeda and I find it depressing.

I read a post of Ash Miller's on Andromeda Previews about Delenda Est and he sounded very bitter and angry. I thought he left for a better job but now I'm not so sure.

I've read a little on Keith Hamliton Cobb's board and he sounds unhappy and very much as if he wants out of his job.

And I don't think I want to know that! It breaks the wall between fantasy and reality. I watch the show and think, I wonder what these people are really thinking, rather than focusing on the characters.

I know that personalities are what brought down the Slipstream and I don't want to find myself so put out by personal background information that I withdraw from Andromeda fandom completely but I do find I am uncomfortable knowing "too much" and "not enough" at the same time.

I like the illusion that all the folks working on the show are having a good time and enjoying what they do. Watching someone do something and KNOWING that the person is miserable detracts from my enjoyment. I have trouble losing myself in the fantasy if the reality intrudes.

I guess no news is good news really is true.

Does this make sense? Are we too close to the show to sit back and enjoy it? Do all the petty squabbles take our concentration away from what we should be doing? Does anyone else feel this way?

Sigh. I still love the show and plan to keep watching but I don't think I want to know about the personal struggles behind the scenes. It's too depressing.
