when did I forget to laugh
I ask
and no one remembers the sound
except
those who do not know its value.

when did I start to drift away
I wonder
after all this time
and not even I have the answer

I'd like to feel joy again
pure
child-like giggles
without
worry or fear or deadlines or anger . . .

but I guess
not even the sea can reach the stars.
