Ever get this feeling?




I called to the rain, "Come, wash me clean.
Stream down my face
So the tears can't be seen.
Drown all my sadness and cool my pain;
Show me my efforts
Were not all in vain."

The rain responded, "It never will do.
I fall as I please,
Not solely on you.
I've rivers to fill and plants to feed;
To comfort you would
Be a wasteful deed."

I called to the earth, "Come, let me lie,
For no weary person
Is wearier than I.
Let moss be my cushion and I will sleep;
I'll water the roots
With the tears I'll weep."

The earth responded, "No you will not.
The tears you'll cry will
Be salty and hot.
You'll wilt the flowers and kill the moss;
Your slumber here will
Only bring loss."

I cried to myself, "Oh what can I do?
Someone must help but
I still wonder who.
They all have their own matters to tend;
They've no extra time
To help my wounds mend."

My Self responded, "Oh, let it be!
What took you so long
To turn toward me?
You want to be happy, but say, who else
Knows how to do it
Better than yourself?"
