I doubt the police can resist a confrontation with people they see as beligerents. God, compared to modern law enforcement, we were disciplined beyond all belief!

I would like to hear the in crowd explain how others are to be heard at all. A great thing about this country is that it accomodates the minority in all aspects -- the minority is protected by the Bill of Rights to constantly try to become the majority in public matters and opinion. But, when they eliminate the forums, effectively mute any counter rhetoric, and basically say they can't be bothered, then what other recourse is available?

The elite really don't want to be bothered, and that's okay, but they simply can't quell other voices because they don't like to hear other views. Bush is as bad as I've ever seen in that he even implies that if you don't agree with him and his policies, then you must be for whatever he is against. Evangelism simply doesn't belong in serious leadership roles.

I'm betting that the people who foster terrorism see it as the only way to influence anything, coming from cultures where the masses are simply ignored or killed. Bush is right, they don't understand us, but our qualities he likes to highlight are really not among our best. Going to war and waging war is the easiest thing to do -- of all possible options, violence is the easiest.

To the rest of the world, it appears we have nothing to offer except violence in response to violence. So much for world leadership. How awful.
