and the eye is better, thank you. It's really strange when you find out that you can't see out of one eye. I knew it was bothering me, felt like it had sand in it or something. It was blurry - glasses didn't help. I thought they wre bent. When I went to the doctor it was an eyelash stuck, that was scratching every time I blinked (my good friend from high school works at the pharmacy where I got the antibiotics, said it was my long beautiful lashes that were the problem, and what are friends for???) it scratched further. For about 24 hours this happened. By the time I went to the doctor, couldn't see out of the right eye at all. They blocked the left eye, put the letters up there, asked me to read them, and I said, "WOW - I CAN'T SEE THAT!!!" That's scary. But what is miraculous, is how quickly they heal. They gave me antibiotics for a couple of days, and it's back to as good as it was. Thank you.

Don't ever screw with your eyes. Something happens, they hurt, you're blurry when you weren't, GO TO THE DOCTOR. I've known people recently with nightmare problems with their sight because of those things. Some of them are not as lucky as I was.

I agree that the north and the south had different ideas about why they fought the war. Most of it was about fear, not about anything that actually happened.

I also agree, that we'd not have gotten along as well if we had "split."

Understand, that as much as all of us (and I mean all of us) hate the idea that slavery ever happened, back then, the North was loathe to tell the South they couldn't have slaves - I in fact know, that many people in the North had slaves, but not in the same way as the South. We weren't big plantation growers (we did have some tobacco, but that was recent as far as I know. I worked there . . . I don't know that they had it back then), but there were many "well-off" families that might have had help from slaves. I've read stories about slaves here, so I know they did exist.

The North fought as you said, to keep the South from leaving - the South fought to keep their "status quo." Funny, if the war didn't come, I don't think that Lincoln would ever have signed the Emancipation Proclamation - he really had no intention of doing that. It was to help the North in the war. Period.
