I can't shake the image of George Bush, saying, "Dead or Alive, I don't care", and "Crusade", "Axis of Evil", "With us or against us", "Yeah, I know Mr Lay.", "They are attacking us because they hate Freedom", and "Freedom Corp".

John Ashcroft will not leave my mind. Images of him in robes, singing songs of god and country of his own creation, in front of a flag on one side and a $40,000 curtain hiding a breast on the other, while shamelessly, the camera is softly focused on this beast. His actions and stated aims belie his words so starkly. His "love" for the country is based on his freedom to attain the power to persecute those who disagree with his simplistic, self-righteous views.

It's too much. All the news of favors and breaks for oil interests. Tom Ridge saying he won't talk to congress cuz Bush is his boss. Hinting that the internet needs to be subdued or policed or limited "for the children". Cheney claiming executive privelage. Not his words, but his meaning nonetheless. Microsoft and the government defending themselves against charges arising from the settlement. Now what's wrong with that picture?

It makes me so tired to see the blind devotion to Bush and the raw need for vengeance still showing up on the boards.

Sure, there's been a struggle between Conservative and Liberal since 1776, but the extreme case of partisanship required to defend the actions of the last couple of months is incomprehensible to me. To only think defensively, to gibe no credence to any negative report, no validity to any accusation, and especially no thought to the Constitutionality of some of the Administration's actions, is at least scandalous, if not treasonous.

No politician deserves loyalty whether he's right or wrong, just because he's "right". No political ideal is so noble as to justify putting your head up your President's behind.
