Subject: This letter writing thing

Is a lot harder than posting on here. Here we all know the info contained on other posts. A letter has to have a beginning, a body, and a conclusion. This is a tough assignment.

I wrote a letter to the local paper last year. They had an editorial about how the major candidates should just not show up for a three-way debate with the Independent Candidate, because nobody would be watching it anyway, as no one cared about Independents. My letter was published, but I didn't watch to see if there was any response. I must have got sidetracked. Anyway it seems to me that I should have been interested enough to check and remember it if anyone had answered.

Anyway, I can't even decide what the focus should be. How much to say and how strongly to state it.

I thought of the things that have upset me most lately and instead of narrowing it down it seems to have expanded the topic, whatever "it" is. Here's where I'm stuck. I just froze, like a deer...

1.Bush
a. Bought Presidency, then stole it.
b. Over-reaching his authority.
c. New laws and Proposals for new laws, border on Fascism.
d. Cabinet made up of Enron/Anderson
e. Well placed and timed, stupid remarks with a religious edge to them, for "Homeland" Politics. To be smoothed over later, but meantime, the red tie gang got the message.

2.Rhenquist
a. Gave Bush the Presidency.
b. Saying Catholic judges should resign because of their beliefs. Whereas his beliefs do not interfere with his duty because the Founders were also Protestant. Establishing Protestant as required faith for judgeship.

3.Ashcroft
a.Oh my God
b.Oh S***.

note: tried to return to the DoJ page with the FOI instructions and nothing would come up but the letterhead.

4.Reform.
a. Eletion Reform
i. Where is it?
ii. No politicians should be allowed to decide this matter. It should be a matter of public discourse. When we decide how we want elections conducted, then they can put it together and accept the kudos for passing it.

b. Campaign Finance Reform
i. What a mess of a bill, McCain/Feingold is. It no longer includes low cost airtime for all candidates- it's last saving grace.
ii. Who put the foxes in charge of the henhouse?
