Subject: Let's see now....

Daschle's criticism of the "war on terror" isn't unfounded. We need to be careful of open ended actions without clear objectives. While idiot simplicities might be enough to get elected, they won't convionce people Bush has a plan beyond keeping things on the front page where they can be politicized. How droll!

The administration, for what it is worth, would do better to point out that we'll probably be engaged on some level or another in many places for the foreseeable future. The thing is more police than military, in nature, and that is what needs to be emphasized. Hard to get many political miles out of such obscurity, but there should be room for reality and truth. Bush doesn't know how to not politicize everything, so there's little hope he'll stop grandstanding and start doing the job.

And that brings up the issue; while those who oppose Bush might accept his "election," they still have a right to demand that he do the job for which he was elected. Contrary to what he wants, that includes the small details which aren't very big deals to the right.
