Subject: "The Clinton Factor?"

Where did this one come from? The Rutherford Institute or some other right wing control group there to make certain anything can be turned into something bad if it goes against the democrats.

What I'm looking for, other than the obvious insinuations, is why anything Clinton did was wrong. The E-I Bank and the OPIC did what they are there for; the project would furnish India a resource it needs (probably using GE hardware) and Enron was a reasonable choice to manage the effort.

The article is right, regular banks don't (or can't) finance huge operations such as this one so, when we compete with the Japanese and Russia for the business, they get to use government funding -- we don't.

So, why is this a jab at Clinton? Seems to me that Bush has failed to pursue our interests by ignoring the issue with India. Why is that? More political hay in letting the loan and project fold?

And, why did the project go south? India's problems or political sabotage? Hey, its an old trick in the republican's play book -- witness Reagan's side deal with Iran for hostages which made him the hero and Carter the shmuck because Carter went with the, what was it? The LAW?

God, republicans are just pathetic; engineering everything for political gain; demonizing everything they don't own or control; and pumping everything they can into the ignorance, fear, and prejudice of their momentum.

Bush didn't address the issue with India, at the very least, because he stood to gain nothing from it and, with the exception of Powell, nobody in this administration does anything unless they stand to gain.
