Subject: Well, excuse me

I guess I am just too much of peace freak.

The preacher preached on forgiveness this morning. What came to my mind was the end to the war. I guess that wasn't the jist of the message. We had a Valentine Supper at the church tonight and I got into a conversation with the preacher about his sermon and told him that I thought it was a good sermon and that we should apply it to the current situation with the muslims. Boy was I wrong. He is lock step with Bush on the "War". I guess it is a religous war. Maybe I am just naive. I talked to another devout 'christain' earlier in the day along the same lines and was told the same thing. "We must destroy them." I pointed out that if we spent the same amount of money on feeding and helping people as we do on WAR, we could get better results. I mentioned Clintons views on peace instead of war and all I got was some mombo jumgo about Clintons sexual trists. I can't understand the mentality.

If war costs 1 million dollars a day, and feeding and providing shelter cost the same, why is war the better alternative.

Lots of people on this board have lamented about how the world sees us but are we any better at seeing the world. What do we see when we look at Iran, Iraq, N. Korea, et al.
Do we see the people of those countries. They are the same as us. The work, they eat, they sleep, they love, they hate. They eat the crap their governments feed them.

When I was in Vietnam, I really liked the Veitnamise people. They are fun loving, ordinary, nice people. What the American public saw was a bunch of communist fanatics bent on destroying the world.

Gee, I just can't believe the mentality that vilifies a whole nation because of one ideology. Are we that shallow? Be sure to Baa while being lead to the slaughter.
