As a great Russian said "Trust but verify".

We as citizens must keep our represenatives feet to the fire. It is our responsibility to watch what our elected officials do and to toss them out if they don't do what we want. That is the rub. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. If we remain the silent majority we will be left out legislation.

In a perfect world, our representative would only work on the business of governing. They would keep the wheels rolling. After all that is what we send them there to do. Our congress is after all a legislative body and that is what they want to do. Much to our chagrin they are too efficient.

Without due diligence someone would have become King by now. Several have tried. George is the latest but will not be the last.

We are getting too fat and lazy these days. If this crap had gone on in the 60's, there would have been sit in's and love in's and protests ad nausium. I pray for a revival of those day when people cared about how and by whom we were governed. Dick Nixon would not be thrown out in these times. No one would care. Dirty tricks are the norm these days. Just turn your eyes to the last presidential election.

Make love, not war was a mantra for the times and still holds true today. Normals idea of a march on Washington was and is a good idea but no one will commit. Everyone is too busy trying to become wealthy.
