The Ivy's sold HC down the river in helping to form the PL; and Fr. Brooks bought into it. Lehigh, Layfayette and Bucknell have a long history together - it would not surprise me to see them throw HC under the bus if the situation presented itself.

this is further testament that there are no (read ZERO) benefits to patriot league affiliation. if colgate and the ivies don't support one of their league brethren/historical opponents in a situation like this then what is having a relationship with them really worth?
i am starting to see why some of you older guys are so frustrated with holy cross athletics. joining, and continuing to stay in, the patriot league was akin to athletic suicide. it's too bad it seems we'll never make the move, but if it was up to me i'd be AGGRESSIVELY exploring all options to bolt this conference today and never look back!

while i was against it before, i'd actually be in favor of a move to the MAAC. yes, i am eating my words purple71! at least the other schools might go to bat for us there, and the level of hoops (the sport that can generate the most interest at HC and in worcester) is clearly superior.
if it's true colgate voted for quinnipiac, this is just another wake-up call to fr. mcfarland that it's time to put this (failed) patriot league experiment behind us!

Joining the MAAC would crush admissions. At least we can compare ourselves now to Colgate, Bucknell and Lafayette. Would you rather have kids think about the MAAC schools at the same time as Holy Cross? MAAC football? MAAC soccer? MAAC baseball? MAAC lacrosse? Yeecch.

Get a grip on reality. Very, very few kids consider the Pl in making their applicaiton to the Cross. As one who had done Alumni Admissions and scholarship interviewing for years, I have yet to hear a kid so he or she chose HC because of the PL. I am hearing all too frequently that they chose the Cross because they got waitlisted at BC.
The PL affiliation plus is a fiction of your imagination. It does allow however mediocre basketball programs to offer an excuse for their mediocrity.
