His eyes grew heavy and even more glazed as he sat there in silence, though one hand was always on her, softly running over her leg or her arm or playing in her hair. He wanted to reassure himself as much as he did her that he wasn't so bad...

  • There wasn't a doubt in her mind that he had a huge heart and was anything but 'bad', but had just run into some tough times over the years, and nothing would convince her otherwise. As he smoked, she sat in silence, close to his side still and with one leg draped across his lap, though her head was turned as she inspected the crowds easily. She wished that all this would just go away, but she knew that the reality was something else and that they were all just going to have to learn how to deal with the uncertainty until it all got figured out.
