He rarely answered his phone - kept it with him always, every moment of every day, if it wasn't literally on his person, than it was within arm's reach. But he rarely answered it - which drove everyone he knew nuts. His bandmates were constantly after him about it, their manager ranted and raved daily, record execs even mentionned it whenever it occurred to them in conversation. His parents passed it off as him just being a busy guy, and the rest of his friends were on the verge of giving up - if they hadn't already. Ninety nine times out of one hundred, anyone who dialed his number received only the 'Gavin. Leave a message.' that served as his voicemail message, and no one really expected much more. When his phone started buzzing in his pocket, he waited a moment before working it out, and then held it in hand as it continued to vibrate for a little while longer, gaze narrowed on the name on his call display. They 'talked' once a week, typically - never for any longer than an hour, and sometimes it was just one leaving a message for the other - and he was a little surprised because they had spoken just a couple days ago, and she never really called him if she didn't have to. But then he recalled that everyone who sort of might care knew that he was home that night, and thought perhaps that may have something to do with this rare event. "Hey." He answered with a statement rather than the normal questionning 'hello?' just in time to catch her before his voicemail took over.
