Author: Gavin & Ethan
Subject:

So don't be a liar
Don't say that everything's working
When everything's broken

Years ago, neither of the men out in the quiet hallway in the most private wing of the hospital would have expected to be standing side-by-side for support. Shaughnessy was among the most prestigious boarding schools in the country, and yet they could not have been more different kids. Ethan played rugby and went sailing and had been fighting off the girls virtually since he could walk. With his dark hair and tanned skin, almost unnaturally bright eyes, and chiseled features and toned body, he had been the stereotypical arrogant jock his entire life - still was, most of the time. On the other end of the spectrum, blonde-haired, fair-skinned, soft-eyed Gavin had been born a tortured musician, and played the part all through high school until he graduated and then got picked up by a wayward band in need of a guitarist - and by the end of that summer they were being touted as the 'next big thing'. A lot had changed in the past few years, though they were still the same people in many senses, but the most important fact was that they both loved that lost girl lying in bed just through that heavy swinging door. It wasn't quite the same level of love, but they both cared deeply, and both were troubled by what was happening to her. There wasn't much else to say to each other though - they'd been on and off the phone a couple times a day for almost two weeks - so they just dropped into chairs next to each other and waited. Gavin hadn't left since his shower the afternoon before, but she had been sleeping when Ethan had arrived and then the nurse had to take care of some things with her, so they were just hanging out now. Though the young musician-boyfriend had been here when she had woken up for the first time, Ethan hadn't had a chance to see her since she had regained consciousness, so was a little anxious for his opportunity...
