Hi Allen... I hope you will give a red setter another shot... you only go around the block once, and its a better trip with a red dog at your side. Even without the wild bird populations, there are plenty of opportunities to just be out and enjoy the companionship of your dog. Preserve hunts are not like wild bird hunting, but you still get to have the joy of working a bird dog. I hope you consider bringing another red dog into your family. I did the same thing about 20 years ago, and I've never regretted the decision.
