~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The last message he sent me was that he was ready and waiting. Based on that I went ahead and picked up this book on wicca, and started reading. But like I said, I have no idea whether he is keeping up his end of the bargain, in starting to read the New Testement. I don't know whether he is being evasive or what.
>I was just commenting about what you said. "it's not
>unlike the writing I do myself which comes from my
>interpretation of the Holy Bible" I think perhaps some
>readers of the bible interpret things in a different
>way than say another reader of the same bible. Just as
>people are different, so will be what they take from
>the text.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Fair enough. I know that there are many who interpret differently, but they often do so without consideration of whether their way actually works to produce life or solve problems. ie) holding to the concept that God insists on men being in leadership positions, even while women are often better suited to it - this doesn't make sense to me.
>The only types of these people I have met call
>themselves Christian, so I wouldn't know about the

>religion who acts in that manner.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~You'd have to be specific about the manner you are speaking of that you only notice Christians being that way. But I can sure point out some nasty attitudes lately on the part of Islamic followers.
But that is just my
>experience. Unfortunately, I'm sure they're out there
>somewhere. And I don't think that anyone exactly
~~~~~~~~~~~~You don't think anyone attracts them to themselves? Then you're missing a powerful tool that you could use to your benefit.
I wish that we only ran into
>people who would give back what they receive,
>kindness, love, etc. But the world, unfortuantely,
>just isn't that way all of the time.

>>~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Tammy, what does it mean to project kindness or love? Are we to have the other person's best interests in mind? Or are we to accept what another person believes and never point it out to them that they are hurting themselves?
To different people, being loving and kind will be different things. I, for instance would neven approach you and tell you, 'do not to try to convert me to your beliefs of Buddhism'. If you really think that I would do better by believing the way that you do, I would consider it unloving and unkind, if you didn't do something to point out the advantages of Buddhism.
Are you saying that there are mistakes
>>in the Bible because of this? Well then, we'd have to
>>admit that it isn't really God's word, wouldn't we?
>
>That is what I believe, yes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~Again Tammy, you would have to be specific about what mistakes are being made in the Bible, for me to address them and discern this for myself. I haven't met anyone yet that could. And I've had some toughies.
>>I agree with this too. But if you're
>>going to set a website, with the stated purpose to
>>you know your own argument otherwise?
>
>You'd have to speak with Raven about that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Oh, I have. And that's how we got onto this topic of reading each others material. As I've already mentioned, he still seems to be a little on the evasive side, since he hasn't gotten back to me on how he's doing on his end.
>>According to the Bible, Christ was the
>>first-born of all creation. Everything that was made,
>>was made through him. If you look at it from God's
>>point of view, this shouldn't be so hard to

>>Buddhists don't believe in an all-powerful Creator.
>
>I can't speak for other Buddhists, just myself. *S*
>But I think I understand what you were trying to say.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~So then do you agree that your point about how Buddha couldn't be pointing to the Christ because he was born 500 years beforehand is not significant?
>>These are already common to both. Is
>>there anything more that Buddhist teachings could
>>offer me that isn't already in the Bible?
>
>Perhaps not. It depends really on what you've already
>the Bible that shouldn't be, in my opinion. A couple
>of those are listed on that debate site. And I'd
>start an argument.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~Now you've got my curiosity peaked. If you ever change your mind about letting me know what these are, I'm all ears.
>>I'm looking for common beliefs between
>>me and Raven, and now maybe with you also - that is
>>true. If I meet someone else that thinks the Dalai

>>beliefs. In the meantime, I think I'll just take on
>>one at a time.
>
>I'm not sure I like the tone I'm picking up from that
>last statement. But I'll pretend I didn't notice
>anything and move on.
~~~~~~~~~~~~Tammy, I'm just saying that I seem to have enough on my plate right now - but if the situation ever presents itself with another person, I will surely look into it. There were no ill intentions.
I'm sure there are Buddhists out
>there who believe that the Dalai Lama is "all that"
>Just as there are Christians who feel that Jesus is
>"all that". *L*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Of course. :-)
You don't have to look at Buddhist
>belief. Like I said, the Dalai Lama writes for the
>benefit of all people. Not just Buddhists. And it
>really doesn't matter to me whether you choose to read
>it or not, I'm not going to take it personally. *S*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Ok, I'm glad.
Nice chatting with you, Tammy.
