Subject: WeEe this may be a first, a silverchair related rant :)

I’ve been thinking a few things though, and I felt like sharing. Sorry this is really long, it all may seem pointless, but trust me it all ties into silverchair :) so bear with me.....

While reading the new lyrics and pondering about what the new album would sound like, I came across a strange vision. I know that silverchair have been saying that Diorama is going to be happier sounding than Neon Ballroom. And, I’m cool with that. But then I got to thinking....does happier mean happy happy love songs to Natalie? Cause if so, that’s going to ruin the whole album for me. I have nothing against happy happy love songs, it’s just, I don’t look for that sort of thing from silverchair. If I’m in the mood for happy happy love songs I listen to Jewel or something else, not silverchair. But then there’s also something else to add to this argument, that’s just NOT Daniel, yet I know he’s changed a lot since the time of Neon Ballroom. Now to the part of this that isn’t about silverchair. Is it just me, or does it ruin a love song when you know who the person is singing/ writing about? That may seem retarded but I think when you don’t know who the person is singing/ writing about it’s more open to your own interpretation. For instance, when I listen to Bush, I know Gavin is writing stuff about Gwen. I love Gwen and Gavin. I think they should just married for god damned sakes and have children cause, honestly, could you think or more beautiful children?! But still when I listen to Bush I still get a little twitch, even though I love the fact that they are together. And I could only imagine hearing songs that are written by Daniel that are directed at Natalie who I cannot stand (sorry I would elaborate, but let’s not make this any longer than it has to be).

Secondly. I listened to Neon Ballroom for the first time in AGES last night. For a period of time all I would listen to was silverchair. I liked other bands, and listened to them. It was just 9 out of 10 times I popped a CD in my CD player it was Neon Ballroom. And I really lost touch with the album and I forgot how unique it was, and for a while I didn’t get the same feeling from it. It was kind of like when you have a favorite food and all you eat is that food. After a while it gets old, you still love the taste, you’ve just had more than you’ve needed to have of it for a time. And during my break from silverchair I listened to more of the other bands I was listened to before, mostly The Strokes, and Incubus, but also a little bit of Bush, Nirvana and other very random artists. Not to mention LOADS of my favorite female artists. And I noticed that Neon Ballroom really really does have a distinctive and incomparable uniqueness. Not just the mixing of strings and a rock band, but Daniel’s voice. I never realized how truly amazing it is. Most of the singers in the bands I just rattled off (The Strokes, Incubus, Bush, Nirvana) have voices that are just in a totally different place than Daniel’s (especially Julian from The Strokes, ohhh man). If you really think about other male singers, whose voice comes near to his quality? It’s almost female like.

I’ll be shocked if anyone stayed tuned to read all of this and followed it all, cause my writing can sometime seem scattered and confusing, sorry if it did :) I just felt like getting some of this stuff off my chest.....sorry for wasting post space...
