Gomez would be pants if they stayed the same and just repeated Bring It On and Liquid Skin again. The new stuff is good because it shows everybody that Gomez arent just another guitar band, and that they can do some pretty interesting shit which is really creative. The new album hasnt lost any of the old gomez charm, they have just changed. Look at Radiohead, When they brought out Kid A everybody thought what the fuck is going on here but it was a fucking huge success. If you look at the stereophonics, they used to be good, but their lastest album is just boring cos its just the same old stuff. Point made i think.
