Alan, welcome. I am a Great Grandmother with generations of enema usage for health and maintenance through out childhood. Even the teens and into adult hood.

Please give us a little more information. Is he withholding or just constipated or are you just wanting enemas for health and maintenance?

It is hard in most areas to go to the store and but enema equipment. In your local Walgreens they should have a douche/enema/hot water bottle in the feminine section. Get one of those.

It is best to get the bottom up and belly pointing down. So bend him over your left leg and clamp him in with your right.

Have maybe a quart first time of warm but not too hot plain water and flow it slowly so it takes about 4 to 5 minutes to get it all in him.

Does that help at all?

Thank you for your reply and my son is almost nine and two main reasons I want to start given him enemas. He tends to hold his bowel movements and I have been told it is through laziness. Secondly I am planning on using it as part of punishment along with spanking, diaper punishment and some other punishments. I might possibly need someone to help me do it as he is a squirmer even getting spanked. Thank you again.

Good you want to give enemas in your home.

I gave spankings when needed.

I do not believe an enema should ever be given as a punishment.
Only a helpful health tool.

If possible consult with your doctor for advice. Possibly you know a former nurse, or a mom who has experience giving enemas in the home.

I taught many moms the enema.
Gave her an enema to learn and then gave to the child for her to learn.

Every mom I gave enemas to wanted to learn. And enjoyed learning how to prepare the room, bed/tabke, the patient, giving and post clean up and care.

Maude good you told of over the leg position. And having his legs “clamped “ between the givers legs.
Growing up my aunt lived with us. She helped my divorced mom out. Both were divorced.
She was a nurse. This was in the 50s and 60s.

She did as you told…butt raised and tummy pointed downward.

If not across her lap then was either on the bed or table.
She would put a firm pillow on the bed or table. Cover it with a towel. The one getting the enema would be laying over the pillow on his tummy.

Many times I remember my cousin being syringed with the bulb laying over the pillow.
Sometimes she would just have a towel on the table. The one getting an enema would be on back. Legs raised up some.

She told the one getting, and yes was me many times, the enema to take deep breaths in and out of open mouth. And relax.

The bulb enema was usually two or so bulbs full. Then older she used the bag.

I was the oldest, so remember her giving many enemas!

Sometimes another mom would come talk with her. I loved hearing them talk about enemas.
Few times she would take the mom to the bedroom. I’d see her carrying a full red rubber enema bag down the hall to the bedroom.
Made me nervous knowing the woman was going to be given a full enema bag.

Can find the enema bag and bulb syringe in local drug store. If not then can find on line.
Optimalhealthnetwork.com is a good source.

Funny talking about the enema today. Few days ago I was visiting a mom. While there she told me her 6 yo was going to be given an enema. I helped her prepare. He got it across her lap. Took it very well.

Was good knowing moms still give enemas.

Maude, enjoy reading comments you leave. Very helpful. Sure many moms who read on here appreciate all your helpful information.

Did you all ways administer the enema across the lap way? Or gave on a table sometimes?

Mom, I was raised on what was called an enema pillow. My three sisters and one brother got an enema once a week. I usually got my enema on Wednesday night before bed. But with five kids in the house most nights somebody was getting an enema. We were started on enemas for the first one ever when we started school. Before that we were given suppositories or orange juice with castor oil if we were constipated.

The enema pillow was referred to as JBL. It was a much larger hot water bottle with the tip attached to the side. You placed the full water bottle flat on a chair and lower the kid down on to the nozzle and sitting on the water bottle forced the enema up into them. I was the middle child and when it was my year to start enemas I was prepared to fight. But mom had a high chair where your feet would just dangle. They made me grab both elbows with my hands and they wrapped my arms together with ace bandage. Made me step up on a step stool to the high chair and turn around and I got face slapped to get my attention and cooperation to lower down on to the bag. Your hands are bound and your feet are dangling so you have no way to raise up off your enema bag.

Me and my siblings all got our enemas from the JBL through out all our school years. Once a week. Our neighbor lady had three boys and she did all enemas over the left leg until they were older. They were much younger then me and I got to help give them enemas because they would fight too when they started enemas. She used a douche bulb syringe. It had a nozzle I thought looked so huge. The nozzle I don't think was intended for rectal use. It was large and curved and she inserted it pretty far inside the little guys. It was probably a 14 or 16 oz. douche bulb and they would get two of them and it really cleaned them out. Of course being used to enemas by then I sneaked it a few times when I was over there and gave myself an enema with it. I loved the huge nozzle. Wished mom would give me enemas with one like that. I liked the privacy of being left alone while sitting on your enema pillow but craved being bent over and getting an enema from the huge douche bulb.

Maude, when you gave enemas in your home, or other homes, did you always use the sit on bag?

Ever give small bulb enemas on table?

I’ve given mostly on table (changing or kitchen table) or across my lap way.

Used the large douche bulb syringe a few times. Gave friend an enema with it a few times. She was across my lap or on the bed.

I moved it way up her. Until the “shield “ was up against her. Gave her two or more bulb full to her.

Think it held 10 oz.

When her hubby was off to work, both our kids off to school she would come over for coffee. Always ended in her getting an enema with the douche bulb.

Mate, I thought the JBL bag was for grownups only.

Did she put Vaseline up and down the nozzle…then gently placed the one getting it on slowly?

I’ve never seen one.

Alana,
Email me for further enema advice. I will share more.
aaavee1@yahoo.com

I know many times you can find a nice enema at your local pharmacy inside of your hospital.
What makes a good enema is the little rubber squeeze bulb many hospitals send home with newborns to help clear mucus from a baby’s nose or mouth.
It’s a bulb syringe.
Your son, being nine, may be able to handle an enema bag.
It will not take much to make him go.
The over the leg and clamped down with the other leg is a very good method.
The best time to give an enema is after a bath, he will already be naked, no fighting of getting clothes off.
If he gives you trouble, settle at first giving him a suppository, and let him go. When it starts working, he may come back to the bathroom, and when he does be ready to give him that enema once that suppository opens him up. Now if he is a holder, you find him, take him to the bathroom, sit him on the toilet and afterwards clean him out with an enema.
