Hi,

A record quality which is not available with analog recording and a record length wich is not available with analog recording.

The quality of analog to MPEG is outstanding (at least with high bitrates) and you can record up to 17 hours with D-VHS on a 4 hour S-VHS tape (D-VHS tapes can hold up to 24 hours at the moment). And the quality of D-VHS longplay with 17 hours is even better than the best S-VHS ...

So if you record much, you can calculate the break even point, on which a even more expensive D-VHS recorder is cheaper, than a cheap (S-)VHS recorder - and you have better quality for free. :-)

Regards, Oliver
