Subject: You have a decent point about Ben's actions

However: "Torturing might be a bit severe, but the loss of a loved one to violent crime is equally severe in its pain."???

So, it's bad to summon a demon to "euthanize" hopelessly insane people (and I agree with you here, it's wrong), but it's ok to torture someone to kills someone you love?

This is too far for me. Willow will have cause, certainly. And yes, I can understand it. But justifiable?

For me, a justifiable illegal act would have to be an attempt to prevent imminent evil. If Warren were attacking someone, or about to hurt someone, easily justifiable. As he is fleeing for his life, less justifiable.

The fact that no normal process, police station, jail could hold him--this is a problem. Perhaps one that the Scoobs could solve given a breather. It sounds like Willow doesn't give them the opportunity.

I stand by my first statement. By my count, Ben did 2 really bad things (the two you mention), and a number of good ones. Warren: built April (and made her hurt if she didn't answer his call, ick), built the Buffybot (which I rather liked, but still ick), put Buffy through the time loop, stole the diamond and froze the guard (admittedly, with help), invisibled Buffy, enslaved Katrina, killed Katrina, (I'm sure I'm forgetting things here), and by the time we are discussing will have killed Tara and seriously injured Buffy.

Yes, Ben's body count is higher. I've never understood the Quellor thing. But he was a human trapped in the same body with Glory, experiencing bleedthrough of her feelings when he finally betrayed Dawn. I'm not justifying his actions. But I think he did have mitigating circumstances there.

Warren shows a clear pattern of constantly escalating violence and self aggrandizement. Nobody matters but him. I think we agree that he's the more evil of the two.

The distinction I made was in the motivation of the person doing the evil stoppage. And, until I can see Willow's face when she kills Warren, I'll stand by it. It sounds like she's killing out of rage and pain and not out of a reasoned acceptance of the guilt of killing, in order to prevent a greater evil.

go ahead, shred it.
