I don't deny that it's a slippery slope, nor do I condone it in real life.

But, you also are treading close to that slippery slope -- Buffy and the others are vigilantes, and certainly perform illegal acts -- breaking and entering, theft of federal military property (the rocket launcher), trespassing on federal facilities (Initiative base, etc.) -- who decides which acts that are clearly illegal are "okay"? I'm not condoning wholesale slaughter, but neither would I condemn Willow for killing Warren -- like I said, I'd be there helping if Tara were one of my friends.

You can argue the rights of the mother, but then, one couldn't punish ANYONE for that same reason -- it doesn't work.

I don't say that Willow, or ANYONE, can decide who lives and who dies in every case -- what I contend is that Willow would be justified in THIS case, if Warren kills her lover -- juries tend to agree with that sentiment, too. Commit an evil act, and people tend to judge you poorly. Yes, in the real world, and in a perfect one, the law should decide -- but the Buffyverse is neither real nor perfect.

And in that perfect world, Buffy should be doing time for the Knight of Byzantium she killed with the axe to the stomach -- or for being the instrument by which the two German mercenaries shot each other (involuntary manslaughter, perhaps). ME has already implied that there are exceptions -- Faith wouldn't have done jail time had she come clean and accepted responsibility -- why should Willow do otherwise? Again, this is for Warren only, not for anything that comes afterwards.

Does that make more sense? Good debate, BTW.

Take it and run.
