Wow. Strong views indeed. And you're entitled to them, don't get me wrong. But let me try and explain my point of view to you.

It's no secret on the board that I was raped myself, many years ago now. "Date rape" it's called nowadays; back in the day, it was just rape. And there were times during that long night, that I thought I would be killed. And I wanted to live. So, to me, death is worse.

As for Buffy and Spike, well, it seems to me that they have fought, viciously, many times. This season, it has been drummed home to us that only Spike makes her feel, whether through the violence, the sex or the violent sex. Spike is no little innocent in this relationship, though. He has encouraged her all the way along, and would do just about anything to get her. All I'm saying is, it takes two. Spike has given as good as he got, in my opinion.

I'm not looking forward to seeing the 'rape scene', I admit. The thought makes me queasy. But neither will I look at it in the same way as that which happened to me. Because I don't think it could possibly be the same, simply because they had a violent relationship all the way along. I won't say more, here, because I want to actually see it first.

Marie
