Not everything looks like Voltron to me. Some of it is that way. Some of it is quite bad. But it is like comparing "Superfriends" with "Batman: The Animated Adventures" The first is bad, the second has class, quality -- both in animation, but also in story. I think some people just like all anime because it is anime, but that is as silly as liking all american cartoons because someone liked "Aladin."

For some of the best looking anime, I suggest Princess Mononoke and Akira. They are also some of the best story lines. Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust is also a step above, more like Batman:The Animated Adventures (though a bit better, imo) so that is also one to watch.

But I look at anime like I look at Doctor Who. Go for the stories, not the animation. If the story is good and engaging and you like it - watch it. If you only want special effects, watch Jar Jar in SW: I.
