Unfortunately, the people who recycle are not the ones throwing garbage out of their car windows! We try to recycle. I even belonged to some green organizations for a while and talked to people who worked in adopt a road programs. I learned from them that, though it is a helpful measure, within days, the roads are littered again.
The problems of littering are not just that there is litter, but that people believe it is okay to do. Where does this idea come from? What makes people think it is okay to throw their trash into the fields, usually land owned by other people? It is a strange mindset, and if we are to combat the problem, we must identify the causes of the mindset, then set out to educate and change them...
