I have been to church in my adult life and the only "deep" aspect I see in it is mainly social. You say that the church hasn't changed, then go on to assume that my intelligence as a youth was lacking. The thing about it is that most of my major thoughts were formed long ago and have changed little. I still get bored as hell sitting in a pew. :) I abandoned Christianity because of philosophical reasons, however, not because the services are boring, which they are. If you believe in it, then, of course it becomes more meaningful for you, but this has nothing to do with age. I might just as well have really believed in it when I was younger too, and thus it would have held deeper meaning.

I agree that I have lost touch. But do you honestly think that if I started going to church I would suddenly realize the deeper implications of it? This is a rather poor assumption. Church services only hold meaning for those that believe in Jesus, not for those that don't. My butt is still going to be just as sore...
