Well, Armageddon is just one culture's idea of how it will happen, after all. But, I think there is a marked tendency within our culture to consider the end of the world, and not just because of Christianity or Biblical references.

The fact is that people throughout the world have all invented their own stories regarding the end of the world. We all believe it will happen, in fact, we know it will happen. We don't know when, but there is a distinct fear that arises within us when it is mentioned. I believe there is a deep psychological reason for this fear. Whether it is an outgrowth of mortality, personification of the forces of nature, or the rapid industrialization and technologization of the world is hard to say for sure. What I am looking for is the cause. Do you have any ideas as to this? :) This is what I am interested in getting at. And there most assuredly is an undercurrent within our culture that thinks about the end of the world very much. With Nuclear energy, mass waste and poisoning of the earth, it seems only natural, but is this the only cause?
