Hi Rosemary

When Jelani won Best Gaited at the National he had to do an out and back and people complained the National judge didn't get the dogs to do a side gait.

Most of Jelani's Best Gaited have been on the side gait and out and backs. I find most judges do this. Side gaits and out and backs pick up different things - I personally think a judge should get a dog to do both as some dogs have beautiful side gaits and they (for example) run wide out and back or do a nice out and back and have no reach and drive on a side gait.

Best ridged - I think that's up to the judge, but once again, I think you pick up more ridge faults when the dog is sitting.

Rachel
