I have some hints for you in terms of photos, but since I don't know what scanning/editing software program you have, this is going to be kind of generic. Please email me or drop another line here if I'm not too clear.

Scan your photos in at a decent resolution, say 100dpi. In your editing program (NOT the website program, something like Paint Shop Pro or PhotoStudio), open the image and save it as (your-image-name)_sm.jpg. Then resize/resample the image so it's somewhere between 100-200 pixels height (you want it to be around 50KB so you could reasonable put several on a page, but yet have the details be at least visible from the display page). If someone is interested in seeing the dress, they can click on it to see the larger image.

BTW, I use Dreamweaver or hard-code it for the html pages, and several graphics programs. I agree that Dreamweaver is tops, but you could get away with FrontPage if you don't have that kind of cash.
