Hi Barb;
Since my services are 95% live-in stays I usually conduct my first interview on the phone and find out what the clients needs are and go from there. If they are interested; by the end of the phone call I set up a day/time for an in-home visit. This gives me and the client a chance to meet and it usually is a good way to gain trust; put a face to the voice of the person who is going to be in their home while away. At this visit I usually go over in finer detail what they can expect while I'm caring for their animals. I usually like to do a walk through with the client and learn about the animals habits, schedules and anything other particulars(meds,etc). I also like to spend time with the animals at this time too. This gives us both a chance to meet, they can get my scent and it cuts down on nervous animals on the day of my arrival. Before I leave I will discuss key hand-off, day/time of departure and arrival back home, emergency phone #, and the usual. I've been doing it this way for 15yrs and it seems to work fine for me. Hope this info. helps. Karen
