IMO

Tacky indeed. If you are running a PROFESSIONAL business I'd like to think you can afford and value your clients to pay for a line specifically for sitting and that alone. All aspects of the business should be conducted as such. Kids are a a big no no during Initial's and messages: while their voices may sound cute to you and friends it would be downright irritating to have to hear that if I called a sitter.Once you are an established business you should behave like one. You must conduct yourself as though you are working for someone else and everyone gets the same respcetful treatment. Our clients are not relatives! That is why they pay thru the b--- to have us rather than the kid next door.

Remember the phone co. is also profiting so you must make the correct decisions for yourself. I have one line for business and another for home. I also pay for the messages in the event of an outage. There are certain areas we should not skimp on because it does show. Now getting aless expensive cell phone plan may be a more subtle way of cutting costs, also e mailing info to clients instead of mailing.
Also, consider the fact that you get a wierdo or an unpleasant client who you might want to get rid of and now they and everyone else has access to your home line...no good.
