I've got four of my own and ended up spending the better part of 24 hours with them in my car in a parking lot two years ago after we were evacuated on short notice during the 1998 Fires in Central Florida. We had just moved here a few weeks before and all roads out of the County were closed, if you can imagine that, and if you weren't home at the time of the evacuation the officials wouldn't let you back into your area for anything although they went in and conducted animal rescues as best they could. They did an outstanding job of saving homes too. Needless to say I signed up to be a volunteer for the county animal rescue group but I want to go to my clients with a plan up front and I guess I'll just have them list their first choice of where they want them taken in the event of a problem and do the best I can from there.
I'm really glad that I found this site...it's been very helpful. Thanks again.
