This is a very difficult situation to encounter and like you, Susan, we had the threa of a very serious hurricane last year, it was frightening! I drove around in my little toyota and prayed I won't be swept up in the forceful winds. I made it to clients homes and proceeded to secure as much as possible. I always ask clients their preference of my home or theirs in the event of a natural disater. Most ask that I keep the pets in their homes with a ton of food, water, etc. They understand that for whatever reason I cannot get into the home I did my best. I now send out a list at the start of hurricane season listing the necessities to have on hand, extra water, paper towels, wet wipes, batteries, etc and ask that they keep this on hnad just in case. I also load my trunck with supplies which I have never had to use except a few paper towels. My friends laugh cause I never have room for anything else in my trunk. You can only do so much but clients are by in large really good about calling when they are out of town and hear about storm threats. We do have an awesome responsibilty and I am thankful this board is available to exchange ideas.
