Your right "holy water" haha, funny name, we shouldn't even look at their private drama when considering to see a movie. It is great when their craft can outshine all their personal drama. I suppose it works for Brad but only when he has a movie out. All the other times, I would say we get way too much info about his life. But, to his advantage, when his movies come out, the amazing talent he is always comes shining through. So if the personal drama they write about him is to discredit him in any way, they fail with flying colors. I think Brad always wins that battle when his movies come out. Otherwise, needless to say, I wouldn't be here.

The only time I will consider a persons private life is when they are in a movie that they hope will make a specific statement. I don't even mind if they aren't the character they are playing in their real life. What bugs me more is when the actor/actress wants to PREACH the message while promoting the movie. Then, I will look at their personal life to see if they practice what they preach.

Just for the fun of it lets use The Mighty Heart as an example. To me, and this is just my personal opinion, instead of putting Jolie in the spotlight, I would rather hear from Mariane Pearl. She is the one who lived it, she is the one who has a message to send. She is the one who could convince me to see this movie. Not the ego driven actress in the part. Maybe that is just me. Of course Jolie wants to be her, Mariane is a very strong woman and I am sorry, in my opinion, Jolie can't hold a candle to her as much as she wants the world to believe it. They picked her for the wrong reason if they tried to find an equal with Mariane's strength. I am not sure any actress in Hollywood could pull that off. And, i can't even believe they would promote it as such. Completely takes the light off of Mariane and puts it onto Jolie. Makes me shake my head, but, lets not forget, we have to cater to this actress's ego atthe same time. SAD!!

I don't understand that part of it. Mariane wrote her story, she should be the one standing on the platform with such a wide audience, not the person who is hired to play her. But, that is where Hollywood has gotten away from making a strong statement within their craft.

Lets take Brad for example in Babel. He stepped back and let the character bring the message to the world. That is the reason I admire Brad so, he is a master at stepping out of the light and letting the character express his message for him.

I was reading at a blog yesterday where a fan was saying Brad has a ways to go before he catches up with Angelina on International issues and making a statement to the World. I had to laugh and think, if they believe that to be true, Jolie will never ever learn to truly make a difference. Sometimes it is better to stand silent and let the work speak for itself by making a difference.
