Didn't he have a relationship with Thandie Newton? When they worked on IWTV they were seen in the public together and they were very devoted to each other.

Remember Brad's romantic dance with his girl in The Devil's Own? That was Natasha McElhone.

The shoot for BB was a very long one, although there were many breaks in between. They started late last year and finished in April.
But Brad had to shoot several more scenes and had to go back to the New Orleans set in May. At that time he already was in Europe accompanying AJ to Prague where she started to film her new movie. A few days after his appearance at the Cannes Film Festival he flew to the USA again, for the Ocean's 13 premieres, the footprint ceremony and the reshoots for BB. In June he came back to Prague.

See, I learned my lesson well ;-)
