I love Luciano Pavarotti and I love opera. We have seen this coming, he was ill for quite some time.

Only yesterday they were talking about him on tv and said that his condition became worse and that family members were coming to his home. That was already a bad sign. He died early on Thursday morning and only about two hours later it was confirmed. Well, the cancer was stronger.

We were all shocked and we talked about him in the office. There will never be another tenor like him. This voice was one of a kind and instantly recognizable.

I once saw him live in concert in Italy, more than ten years ago. It was amazing to listen to him live. And the audience went wild as always when he was performing.

It is amazing to see how many people speak about him, politicians like the French President and President Bush, Popstars like Elton John, Bono from U2, Brian May and his prominent colleagues from the operatic world of course. That is proof how universal he was. On the internet forums there is not any other topic than the Big P. now.

Here is a clip where he sings the famous aria Nessun Dorma (No one is sleeping) from Turandot. An aria that is more identified with him than any other. I am always amazed at how long he could hold certain notes, Nessun Dorma is really difficult to sing.

Enjoy!
