Actually, don't be shocked but i agree with you on that point. When it comes to stuff like that, I'm a bit old fashioned too. I think one also must factor in the age also. It's funny, when my bf and I visited my parents about a year and a half ago for Thanksgiving, i was the one that was like "should we sleep in separate bedrooms"? And was almost surprised to hear my mom say "don't be ridiculous". My mom, who's pretty conservative when it comes to stuff like that, i wasn't even able to talk about anything sex-related with her till i was in my mid-20's (and we talk about EVERYTHING otherwise) LOL But the difference here was that a) I was 28 years old at the time, not in college and more importantly b) I was already living with my boyfriend, not living under her roof. So that's totally different but in your case, I think you're doing the right thing to implement those rules. It's your house and you get a say, if it makes you uncomfortable, that's understandable. I think i will feel very similarly when I'm a mother, there are certain old fashioned ideas that I believe should stay old fashioned!! And this is one of them. Doesn't matter how long she's been with the guy. I personally can't even imagine really doing anything sexual with the parents in the next room (and we didnt when we stayed with them) but not everyone is the same way, so why take that chance? Nobody wants to wake up in the middle of the night and overhear their daughter having sex LOL Seriously though, i'm making light of it but i know that it's a lot more than just that for you and like i said, i totally see your point. You can tell Rachel i said that, as i am closer to her age and liberal as all-get out (a liberal, religion-free wild woman hahaha), i think if even I say that, it might get her thinking and then she'll stop being as upset :)
