Well don't pat me on the back too much. i was monets away from walking home if that line didn't start moving. Seriously, I wanted to hear her live but I will never again stand in a line like that waiting to hear anyone speak, besides maybe the Pope.
Honestly, the thing about seeing her live that impressed me most was the elderly black man that was working the event that night. He approached me out of all those people waiting in line and said something along the lines, "the people here probably wouldn't like who he was voting for." He insinuated that he was the outsider in the room and felt very uncomfortable in being there. I tried to smile and make him feel his concern was in vain, i think people are just interested in hearing what she has to say because she is new, and fresh in politics. Noone knew her before she won the VP nomination. Course then he began to put on the rap. Until his boss came along and tried to move him along. I had to laugh, he turned and said, "Awww man, can't you see I am putting on my rap." He was adorable, I had to laugh at how he responded to his superior.Course, my hubby was there and he was less than amused by my longing to talk to strangers.LOLHonestly, that made it all more worth while. I love the unexpected encounters when I go to such an event. That is one thing I don't thinkmy hubby has ever gotten used to with me. he always looks at me like "Why?"
In the end for me, if President Obama getting elected gave that elderly man a sense of pride, I have to smile for him, if for no other reason.
Although, Sarah was an amazing speaker. I give her credit for taking that on with the responsiblities she had a home.
