I don't think it is so weird that his family might still be religious even though Brad doesn't believe in God or religion. Doesn't sound like he influences his family at all in that aspect, although I could be wrong. I suppose if he is paying all their bills they would probably go along with anything he says.

I don't agree that they couldn't be close even though he doesn't believe in God and they do. There is always hope for a sibling if you keep them close.
