When I saw Anthony Hopkins being one of the five Oscar winners coming on stage I knew he would do the speech for Brad. And I loved the words he addressed to him. He said that he is happy for Brad being acknowledged for this role. He closed his speech with "my friend". You could see how proud Brad was, that his idol Anthony Hopkins gave such a personal speech when Brad put on a big smile and folded his hands towards Sir Anthony to show him his gratitude.

I haven't watched the Oscars in years, but since Brad and his movie received so many nominations I decided to watch it, even though I knew he wouldn't win.

This event reminded me why I became a fan of Brad. Not only because I like him as an actor or because he is so beautiful. No, because he is such a down to earth person who doesn't take himself too seriously. That was so obvious when you observed him at the Oscars. Even when his film lost in the main categories he always had a smile on his face and was happy for the others.

Especially when Slumdog Millionaire was chosen Best Picture Brad was one of the first to jump from his seat, turning around to the rows behind him to look at the winners coming to stage and he was laughing and clapping joyfully. I loved that so much. His competitors won and he was happy. I think a lot of these Hollywood people could learn from him.

Too bad, Gina, that you fell asleep. You would have been proud of him. Some people I talked to said the same. They felt his reactions were so selfless and that he could have not shown more joy when his own movie had won.

I think its because it is not so important for him to win an Oscar. He has other priorities in life.
He smiled all the evening through. And I can say the same that I said ten years ago. He lights up a room with his smile alone.

But it was good that Benjamin Button won three Oscars, although I hoped David Fincher would win the directing Oscar. He would have so deserved it. He worked so brilliantly on this film for more than five years!
Happy about the Make-up Oscar too.

Terry
