That Marine sounds like a typical religous person (intolerant, scared, and threatened of others views) and typical Military meathead "tough guy".

That line you posted above here sounds very intolerant, scared and threatened by others views.

Our Marines are well educated. Most of the young men and women who wear our country's uniform have college degrees and a higher percentage are high school graduates as well as compared to the general population.

You jump to a HUGE conclusion that a Marine is a Meathead because he made a choice to believe there is a God, someone bigger, smarter and more tolerant than all of us. That's a big leap. Huge stereotyping there.

Just because someone chooses to believe that the world was created, the assumption is they must be a "meathead" with narrow, intolerant views.

The point of that email was that there is a God who cares and watches over us in the opinion of the Marine. Who better to understand what God means to him than someone who, unlike many of us here at home who enjoy our freedom to be critical of our military, puts his life on the line everyday and has to make a decision about whether God is real because in a moment without warning, this Marine will be face to face with his creator!

It amazes me how many people who don't believe in God think they understand everything about someone who does believe in God. We are all free to make our own choices. When death is near, many choose to believe, when death is not near we all want and desire our freedom and don't want to rain on our parade with morals or ethics or to be judged.

Being judged by our fellow human beings isn't fun. We can be cruel and unfair in our view of things. We only see things from our own NARROW perspective.

Let's consider the possiblity that this Marine was considering one day that God was protecting him from harm in Iraq. Why try to insult him?
