Subject: East End port is yet another white elephant!
In reply to: BlahBlahBlah 's message, "Obviously you haven't listened to the recent talk on this!" on 08:34:51 01/18/02 Fri

You're no typist either Blah! :-0

This proposal is just another in a long line of foolishness being imposed upon the Cayman public by a government with a personal financial agenda. The port was placed where it is now because it is the only location that is viable for most of the year. It is the least subject to weather variations of any location on the island. I heard a comment by someone who is in a position to know, that 95% of all goods imported stay "west of Red Bay." So now with the "new port," over 95% of the landed goods will have to be transported the 20+ miles to reach the bulk of the consumers? This is total lunacy!

When will the Cayman public stop voting with a "fridge, housetop and driveway" mentality and start electing governments who are interested in the public good, and not the size of their personal bank accounts? Where does the public think the money comes from to do all these electioneering favours? Where is Jim Bodden when we need him most? Oh yeah, lying in an early grave, likely due to the actions of those presently in power! Sadly how soon we forget. I say thumbs down to moving the port!
