Couple of quick updates.
First, the GP Foundation is proud to present the MMA & Sports Memorabilia Auction featuring itmes from former and current UFC fighters, as well as, Boxing and NFL stars. The silent auction will be ongoing during the day of the tournament and money raised also benefits Leukemia Research! Thanks to our good friend Frank Mullis for putting this together.
Second, just a reminder about our special matches of the day featuring Black Belts Eric Burdo and Dennis Hayes, as well as, Brown Belts Andrew Smith and Jason Culbreth.
Don't forget to pre-register online at www.usgrappling.us

Guy I have some guys who want to enter that tournament. I have a question, usgrappling seems to have a different definition of the divisons (no-gi)(novice/beginner/inter/adv) than is on your site (now dont blame me for this, this is a couple students confusion) but could you link me to the rules/different divisons? That would clarify for some of them where they compete and exactly what rules they will be under.

No problem Brandon. I'm going to post the info below. For the most part we have rules, divisions, etc. almost identical to US Grappling. However, until we reach a higher number of competitors (I'd say 150 or more) we have decided to stick with three experience levels. Once we're hitting higher numbers with pariticipants we'll probably go up to the four experience levels (then hopefully we'll still be able to fill up most of the divisions).
Info listed on our website www.gpfoundation.us under the "rules/divisions" tab is the accurate information. Let me know if you need any specific questions answered.

No Gi Skill Level Definitions
Beginners: Less than 1 year of training any grappling art.
Intermediate: Between 1-3 years training any grappling art, or blue belt.
Advanced: Over 3 years training any grappling art, or purple belt and above.
Length of Matches
(No Gi)
Mens/Womens Divisions
Beginner 5 minutes
Intermediate 6 minutes
Advance 7 minutes
Absolute 5minutes
Masters 5 minute
Kids/Teens 4 minutes

LightWeight 150-159.9 lbs
WelterWeight 160-169.9 lbs

Senior Divisions
(Ages 30 and up)
Lightweight 159.9 and under
WelterWeight 160-184.9 lbs
MiddleWeight 185- 199.9 lbs

Additional No-Gi Rules
1. No Advantages will be used in regulation time, will be used in over time. Overtime matches will last for three minutes.
2. Cannot grab opponents shirt or shorts.
3. Uniforms, Gis, or Kimonos are optional for submission grappling divisions; Mouthpiece and groin protection are recommended.
4. Can opener technique will be allowed as long as the individual releases the head as soon as the guard opens. The can opener technique can not be used as a method to submit the opponent except for in the advance divisions.

Is there a weigh in at crossfit as well, or just the one at You guy's place? It really doesnt matter to us, both are a ways away, and I think your place is only 8 more mins down the road.

Weigh-ins will only be at Guy's place, not at Crossfit for this tournament.

Tracey is right. This tournament location is a half mile up the road from our place. It'll make it nice for setting up Friday night!
